An American Beauty

New Orleans
Saturday morning me, Audrey, my mom, Kathy, Mary Catherine, and Kendall loaded up and headed to New Orleans to spend the day at the zoo. We made it there without incident and had a really good time. The weather was beautiful, but man was it hot. Luckily, all the animals were not in hiding, so we were able to see all the exhibits. Audrey rode the carousel, she chose an elephant. This time she insisted on riding one that actually went up and down. This was a first for her. Mary and Kendall walked her through the petting zoo where she fell in love with a little white goat. She petted and loved on that goat...thank goodness the zoo provides a wash area for people to clean up afterwards. We had our share of cold drinks, but opted to wait to eat when we made our way to the French Quarter. We ate at a little cafe on Decatur. After dinner, we all took a buggy ride. Our tour guide "Harry" was fantastic. Audrey and Kendall fed his mule "Pumpkin Pie" a carrot, which Audrey got a real kick out of doing that. After our buggy ride, we stopped at Cafe Du Monde for beignets....yummy. Before we knew it, our day had come to an end, so around 7:30, we loaded up and headed back to Mobile. Kathy and Audrey watched the Wizard of Oz all the way home. I'm not sure who enjoyed it more, Audrey or Kathy? After a really needed shower, me and Audrey past out. This was a short but oh so much fun trip. We will definitely do it again, but I will say this...I don't think any of us will be doing the zoo in July ever again. When I said it was HOT, I mean it was HOT!!

Happy Birthday Ward

Ward celebrated his 55th birthday yesterday and like last year Audrey was so excited. We took him to dinner. He wanted steak...so steak it was. Audrey was so good in the restaurant. She ate most her dinner and kept giving her daddy birthday kisses. After dinner, we took Ward shopping for his present. He decided on a Wii. I just knew he was going to want a big flat screen television, but nope, he wanted a Wii. We bowled for along time when we got home, he beat me every game. To my delight, Audrey didn't show much interest in it. I have been a bit iffy on having a video game in our home, but Ward really wanted one, so I caved. Audrey made him a card, and we sang Happy Birthday to him. Before he could blow out his candles, Audrey beat him to it. We also gave him a new coffee maker. He loves his coffee, so this machine is right up his alley. Tonight I am surprising him with a party at Chantilly's. I think he may be on to me, but he is playing it up as if he doesn't. I will post some party pictures from tonight on my next entry. Until then, I love you Ward, I hope you are enjoying your birthday week.

We're Back
We made it back home yesterday afternoon. I haven't had the chance to complete our day to day activities yet, but hopefully soon. This is just a sneak preview of all the fun we had. This was one of the best times I have ever had. We opted to come home a day earlier than planned, but all of us had a wonderful time. Audrey was simply a dream!!! She started kicking her feet and realized that by doing so, she could get to where she wanted to go.
