Bye-Bye Ball....
Audrey has or should I say "had" a Minnie Mouse beach ball. We bought it last summer and she played with it often. Yesterday our yard man came and his weed-eater got it. This didn't sit well with Miss Audrey. For a moment, I thought we were going to have a grave side service for this thing. Audrey found it in the corner of the backyard and brought it to me. She was holding it like a baby with a tear in her eye. She told me that her ball was sick and said she wasn't happy. By this time Ward had come outside and she immediately ran to him with the deflated ball. We consoled her and let her know that all would be okay. Ward lifted the top to the trash can, and Audrey gave her ball one last hug and a kiss and placed in the the trash. She then looked up at her daddy and said..."Daddy, I'm not happy, can we go get a new ball?" Without skipping a beat, her daddy said "we certainly can...we can get two."

Catching Up!
I've been meaning to post for the past few days, but I have been so busy with work, it has impossible. So much has been going at"Fendley Manor"... lots of good stuff. This past weekend was so much fun. It all started Friday with me and Audrey meeting my friend Renee and her little girl, Landry. We went to the Fairhope Art Festival. What a fun time we had!! The weather was simply gorgeous. I bet we must have walked 10+ miles. Both Audrey and Landry were the sweetest little girls and on their best behavior. Neither cried for anything all day. After leaving Fairhope and saying goodbye to Renee and her bug, Audrey was fast asleep within minutes. When we arrived home, Ward was there and wanting us to have a date night. Lindsay was ready and willing. Audrey has made friends with two little girls in our neighborhood. When Lindsay arrive, Audrey was in the backyard swinging with Margaret and Raley. The three of them are such a treat to watch. They play so good together. Margaret is in Audrey's class at school, and I think they are now "best friends".

Saturday - After Ward and Audrey got back from breakfast, we got ready for our day. We decided to take Audrey to the Gulf Shores Zoo. We took her last summer when the weather was scorching hot. This time it was wonderful. Audrey walked, she said that she didn't need her stroller...I was willing to push her, but this is just another sign that my little baby is growing up. She insisted on walking and holding our hands. After the zoo, we went to the "Hang-Out" for lunch. This place is wonderful for kids. They have outdoor seating with a huge mound of sand, or should I say the largest sandbox known to man. This was the day!! Audrey took her shoes off and walked in the sand. I couldn't believe it. I nearly cried. I have tried so many times to coax her to play in the sand at the beach, but until Saturday, she didn't want any part of it. This is surely a sign that we are going to have a fun summer!!

When we got home, Audrey wanted to ride her bike. It's actually a tricycle with a steering stick that I use to push her. She can't quite do it herself yet. That will happen soon enough. I want to push her as long as she will let me. She is becoming more independent everyday. We rode to Raley's and she went with us. I put them both in the wagon and pulled them for what seemed like hours. They love it, and so do I. They played on Audrey's swing set, ate ice cream, and walked around the block to collect rocks and acorns?? By the time the day was over, Audrey was tuckered out. She slept really good all night long.

Sunday - Ward and Audrey went to breakfast while I slept in. Afterwards we went to Dauphin Island to visit with my mom. We did the usual...rode around, fed the birds, and played with my mothers two really bad yellow lab puppies, Amos and Andy. When we got home, Audrey wanted to play outside, so we went to find her friends. We did the wagon thing again, played in the backyard, searched for rocks and acorns, had more ice cream, and just played, played played.

I love that Audrey enjoys being outside so much. She is constantly asking me if we can ride her bike or walk or ride in her wagon. These few days were simply heaven. I love being Audrey's mommy, and I thank God for her everyday.

Way To Go Lady Vikings!!
Yesterday, we took Audrey to see Mary Catherine and her basketball team play one of the best games those 7th grade girls have ever played. They played their hearts out, but unfortunately, they didn't win. These girls played with respect, dignity, and by the rules of the game. They have absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about. The bleachers were roaring, and everyone was impressed. This was the play-offs, so this game would their last until next season. The team work, the love of the game, and the will power that I'm sure it took to look the other way when the ref called unfair fouls on most of the girls was incredible. Some of these girls have been playing ball together since the 3rd grade, and are the best of friends. Audrey will be part of a team like this one day, and I only pray that she will also have the passion that these girls displayed yesterday. Go Lady Vikings...you are super!! We are all so very proud of you and we are looking forward to watching all of you play next year.

Sophie
Today is the 3rd birthday of a very sweet and beautiful little girl named Sophie Mader. Her mom and I are really good friends and I know that today must be pretty rough for her. You see, Sophie was taken home by our lord on the day she was born. Her mother is a very spiritual women who is completely in touch with God. This day touches my soul so tightly because Sophie and my Audrey are the same in age. Audrey will turn 3 years old exactly one month from tomorrow. It saddens me because I know that the two of them would be the best of friends. This morning as I was watching Audrey sleeping, I couldn't help but think of Sophie and how her mommy and daddy are feeling today. I looked at Audrey and realized that I can no longer remember my life before she entered my world, and I can't fathom my life without her. This afternoon, the two of us are sending a balloon to Sophie. Happy Birthday Sophie...you are doing a wonderful job watching over your family. You are so deeply loved by many.

Happy Birthday Mom!!
Today is my mother's 60th birthday. What a milestone! We celebrated her birthday at her house this past Sunday. I wanted her to spend her day with family and go for lunch on the island somewhere. My mom wanted to spend the day with family and insisted on COOKING us lunch. Audrey sang "Happy Birthday" to her. Believe it or not, she knows all the words. Not to bad for a two year old. My mom is a very sweet, carefree, and giving lady. Her faith in God is inspiring. I couldn't have asked for a better mother. If a tenth of her kindness and understanding has rubbed off on me, Audrey is sure to be fine. Mom has always put someone else first. She believes in her family, and she loves her God. When something is rotten with one of us, she is the first to point out that someone else is sure to have it worse, and that God will see us through it. The best part of March 4th, for my mom, is that 38 years ago on this very day, she was blessed with the cutest, sweetest, little girl ever....ME! Happy Birthday Mom, I love you. Thank you for being so great to me.

Audrey and Belle This past Thursday, Ward and I went out for a night of dancing. Lindsay came over to play with Audrey, and as a surprise, she brought along her new puppy "Belle". She is a teacup Chihuahua, and this little thing weighs only one pound and is absolutely adorable. Audrey fell in love with her immediately. She was so loving and gentle with her. She found an Easter basket and got one of her blankets for Belle. I tried to get my kiss and hug good-bye like always, but this time Audrey just kind of shooed me away. This made me a little sad, but knowing that she was happy and safe, I didn't mind to much. Lindsay is so great with Audrey, and Audrey loves her to death. It really eases my mind to know that we are leaving her in such wonderful care. We have decided to give Audrey a puppy like Belle to her for her birthday this year, and agreed to name her "Ruby". Audrey can hardly wait. Now all we have to do is find her. So if anyone knows where we can find our Ruby, please let us know.
